Taking Chances…

“Hey!”

“Hello…”

“Earth to Houston…1 2 3”

Tina was feeling relieved and angry at the same time, because she thought she was late for her date with her best friend and here she was being ignored like she wasn’t even there.

Nisha suddenly looked up at her friend, feeling surprised at herself for being lost in thoughts.

“Oh you are here already; I thought you would be late, sorry I was thinking about something.”

“Yeah honey, I am late, and I have been here talking to you since last few minutes.”

“Wow, really? Didn’t notice you.”

Tina was starting get worried about her friend this was not like her at all, lately she had been acting like an alien. She tried to subtly talk about it.

“Is everything alright Nisha?”

An Unlikely Date

“Thanks for the coffee.”

Devika replied in courtesy to the waiter in the coffee shop. She sympathized with the staff there a lot as she felt people didn’t give them their due credit, the staff was always on their feet accommodating unreasonable requests from ever ungrateful customers. Devika frequented this place a lot lately. Like a lot of such evenings, today also she was hopped on her corner table with a book and her coffee for company. She loved reading here specially during monsoons. She had a rough break up a few months ago, after which she did not quite feel ready for the dating game, so her book was her usual date here. Just friends…enough to brighten a dull day

“It is so peaceful out here; I wish I could just sit here all day.”

“Yeah, I agree…but that’s what it is…just a wish.”

“Yeah…I know that too well…we have to go back to our messy lives two hours from now.”

Tanisha was sitting behind the auditorium overlooking the massive lake with her school friend Anika. They had known each other for more than ten years from school through college and so forth. They were not best friends, they had conflicting personalities, they didn’t even got along that much, but somehow they reached out for each other when life gave them both lemons. So like a lot of such times they were just sitting there by the lake, introspecting their own lives, choices, etc in their minds. Tanisha knew Anika was upset, so she subtly tried to raise the subject. Keep on reading!!

Justice League of friends

“Be careful sweetie; don’t go too close to the railing.”

“Okay, Papa.”

“What’s wrong? Why are you crying?”

“I am afraid the teacher will scold me in school tomorrow, my homework is not complete.”

Taking her in his arms, hugging her close, he assured her, “Don’t worry sweetie, I will help you finish it.”

Between tears, she replied, “But, she will still scold me, she favours other students over me.”

He assured her again, “Don’t worry, I will have a word with her, so this doesn’t happen again.”

Tanya was sitting by the railing of the hill top, lost in memories of 6 year old Tanya with her Superman.

One Trip – New Beginnings

“Do whatever your hearts wants you to do”

Aditya suggested to Kshitija.

Aditya and Kshitija were lying on the little grassy area atop the cliff they trekked that day with the rest of their trekking group. They were gazing at the stars in the clear night sky, feeling the wind blowing against their cheeks, gently swaying away their hair. They were a little distance away from their camp site. They had lit up a small fire and they were now feeling cosy lying there gazing at the stars in the cosy warmth of the fire.
