Taking Chances…

“Hey!”

“Hello…”

“Earth to Houston…1 2 3”

Tina was feeling relieved and angry at the same time, because she thought she was late for her date with her best friend and here she was being ignored like she wasn’t even there.

Nisha suddenly looked up at her friend, feeling surprised at herself for being lost in thoughts.

“Oh you are here already; I thought you would be late, sorry I was thinking about something.”

“Yeah honey, I am late, and I have been here talking to you since last few minutes.”

“Wow, really? Didn’t notice you.”

Tina was starting get worried about her friend this was not like her at all, lately she had been acting like an alien. She tried to subtly talk about it.

“Is everything alright Nisha?”

“Yeah…all is great. I was just lost in thoughts.”

Tina knew Nisha would tell her whatever it was by herself so she didn’t press further. She tried something more cheerful.

Trust-Devil dressed as an Angel

How do you trust someone?

This is one question that nags most of us sometime or the other. However for Miny, this was the wrong question. Reason was pretty simple; she chose never to trust anyone. For her the question was, “why to trust at all?” Her life was good, she was happy so there was no reason to give control of that happiness to another person by trusting them.

“How was your date?” Smita, Miny’s roommate asked her.

“Oh, it was fun, he was nice.”

“So, when is the fun happening again?”

“Oh you know me, fun never repeats with the same person. He was nice but that was it.”

Mother’s world

“Tring tring tring tring”

Smita heard her phone ringing from the kitchen, paused the grinder and moved out of the kitchen to find her phone. She found it, saw it was her son, Nishant’s call and answered immediately without any further delay.

“Hello.”

“Hey Mom, what took you so long, I called earlier as well.”

Hearing the same old familiar voice brought utter delight on her face, Smiling she continued talking to him.

“Oh, I am sorry, I was in the kitchen…must have missed your call amidst all the grinder noise.”

“Ok, are you alright? You sound out of breath.”

“Yeah, I am fine…just having a little cold.”

“Get that treated and take rest.”

“Yes, how come you called at this hour?”

“I am coming home the day after tomorrow, thought to inform you.”

“Oh, that’s great news, what time will you get here?”

“I will be there by 9:30 in the morning, anyways I have to go now, see you soon.”

“Alright, travel safe son, bye.”

She was suddenly delighted and she felt so much better despite her ill health and exhaustion that it was beyond any words. She was quickly planning preparations for her son’s arrival. Continue reading

An Unlikely Date

“Thanks for the coffee.”

Devika replied in courtesy to the waiter in the coffee shop. She sympathized with the staff there a lot as she felt people didn’t give them their due credit, the staff was always on their feet accommodating unreasonable requests from ever ungrateful customers. Devika frequented this place a lot lately. Like a lot of such evenings, today also she was hopped on her corner table with a book and her coffee for company. She loved reading here specially during monsoons. She had a rough break up a few months ago, after which she did not quite feel ready for the dating game, so her book was her usual date here. Just friends…enough to brighten a dull day

“It is so peaceful out here; I wish I could just sit here all day.”

“Yeah, I agree…but that’s what it is…just a wish.”

“Yeah…I know that too well…we have to go back to our messy lives two hours from now.”

Tanisha was sitting behind the auditorium overlooking the massive lake with her school friend Anika. They had known each other for more than ten years from school through college and so forth. They were not best friends, they had conflicting personalities, they didn’t even got along that much, but somehow they reached out for each other when life gave them both lemons. So like a lot of such times they were just sitting there by the lake, introspecting their own lives, choices, etc in their minds. Tanisha knew Anika was upset, so she subtly tried to raise the subject. Keep on reading!!

Emotional Waves of Love

“We are going home, right??… or should I turn elsewhere?”

“Yes, you are going home in the other car, I have some work.”

“No ways bhai, I am not allowed to leave you alone today of all days…Mom will kill me!”

“If you don’t do as I say, you will prefer mom’s wrath to mine!!”

Nishant urgently needed to get some peace and quiet, which was impossible to ask in all the festivities surrounding him, more so with him being the center of attention. His younger brother Sahil was a gem of a person with a big heart. But, lately he was acting like an inseparable tail of a dog. Dog being himself. He loved Sahil, however it was all starting to get the better of him, besides he needed some time to ease out. Keep on reading!!

Love Survival

“Hey, it’s your lucky day…. Boss has called you in his office”

Akshat was sitting at his desk, hearing this statement from his colleague, he replied with a smile, “Thanks for informing me, lucky or not is yet to be seen!”

Akshat wondered what this was all about as he was on his way to this meeting. He entered his Boss’s cabin took a seat and started their usual discussions on the status of project he was handling and other related matters. Akshat thought this was just a regular project meeting on his current assignment, he was at the door when he heard, “Oh and Akshat, that Japan assignment has a new vacancy as Sachin just dropped out of going…some visa and passport issues, I have suggested your name for it, You will be moving to Japan next month, get your affairs in order.”

Akshat’s mind took a back seat and simply refused to come up with logic.
